A journey into the living heart of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
From the vibrant energy of Shenzhen to the quiet peaks of Luofu Mountain, this 10-day immersion invites you to study directly with a TCM Master, practice inside an active Buddhist temple, and experience ancient medicine within its true cultural lineage.
With Master Liu Wen, you’ll move through qigong, herbal medicine, breath-led grounding, and lineage-based temple practices shaped by centuries of TCM wisdom.
-
In the fall of 2025, we gather in China for a full-spectrum immersion into Traditional Chinese Medicine — moving from the pulse of a modern city to the stillness of mist-covered mountains.
This is not a wellness retreat in the conventional sense.
It is a teacher training designed for those committed to learning, discipline, and lineage.Across ten days, participants will study classical TCM theory and practice, witness live patient treatments, receive direct diagnosis and herbal prescriptions, and integrate the teachings through lived experience inside a Buddhist temple that has stood since the Tang Dynasty.
-
This immersion is designed for:
TCM practitioners and students
Doctors and holistic health practitioners
Bodyworkers, healers, and acupuncturists
Dedicated learners seeking cultural, clinical, and spiritual depth
While there is space for rest and integration, this container prioritizes learning, observation, and embodied understanding over personal healing alone.

PART I — LEARN FROM A TRUE MASTER
Shenzhen | October 11–16
The first five days unfold in Shenzhen, where we train directly with Master Xu Ruqi, one of China’s most respected contemporary TCM masters.
Training takes place in his newly opened hospital and school, where theory and practice are held side by side.
During this phase, you will:
Study classical TCM theory through medical, cultural, and spiritual lenses
Observe live patient treatments and clinical decision-making
Learn pulse and tongue diagnosis, herbal formulation, and prevention-based medicine
Explore Taoist cosmology, Yin–Yang theory, Five Phases, and Zang-Fu systems
Examine the contrast between Western medicine and TCM approaches
On the first day, each participant will receive an individual diagnosis from Master Xu, followed by a custom herbal prescription to be taken throughout the ten-day immersion.
All teachings are translated into English, both verbally and in written materials.
PART II — INTEGRATE INTO TEMPLE LIFEJinshan Temple, Nanchang | October 17–21
On October 17, we journey together to Jinshan Temple (金山寺), nestled in the mountains of Jiangxi Province.
Founded during the Tang Dynasty, this Buddhist temple is home to 360 priestesses who live autonomously, cultivating their own rice and vegetables and maintaining centuries-old devotional rhythms.
Here, learning shifts from classroom to lived practice.
During these five days, you will:
Live in alignment with temple rhythms
Integrate teachings through rest, reflection, and embodiment
Participate in group workshops, sound healing, meditation, and Qi Gong
Optionally receive treatments from additional local TCM practitioners
Engage with Chinese culture through curated excursions
This phase is designed to digest, soften, and embody what has been learned — allowing knowledge to settle not just intellectually, but somatically and spiritually.
